Jay Shechtman

Jay Shechtman attended Cypress Bay High School. After completing the AP Spanish examination and receiving a 5, he was elected as president of his school’s Spanish Honor Society. He has spent years of continuous effort to become one of the only non-native students in his school to learn the Spanish language through the classes that are offered. Jay is the 2008 winner of the “Best in County Award” at the Broward County World Language Competition in the Spanish language. He also won the “Academic Excellence in AP Spanish Language Award.” Jay spent the summer before his senior year in Spain where he took additional Spanish classes at the  Enforex School and improved his ability to speak and comprehend the language. Jay is the first non-native Spanish speaker at Cypress Bay High School to ever take the AP Spanish Literature course and scored an impressive 4.
                In addition to Spanish, Jay has also excelled in mathematics. In middle school, Jay was a GEM student (Gifted Educational Mathematics) and maintained an A average. In the ninth grade, Jay competed in Mu Alpha Theta Math competitions in the subject of geometry. Jay has taken math through the Advanced Placement Calculus course. He has been tutoring both math and Spanish for over four years and is the founder of You Ask, We Tutor!. Jay is also the founder and president of his school’s Psychology Club and has recruited over 200 members.  Jay was ranked in the top 2% of his class of 1,300 and maintained an impressive GPA of 4.94. Jay enjoys jet skiing and relaxing at the beach in his free time. In 2009 Jay was named The Young Entrepreneur of the Year nationally by NFIB and Visa Corporation. He is also a recipient of the McKelvey Scholarship and currently attends The Wharton School of Business at The University of Pennsylvania.

 

Daniel Mrdjenovich

Daniel is currently a senior at Cypress Bay High School. Filled with a passion for learning, he has decided to challenge himself this school year with rigorous courses that make up the curriculum for CollegeBoard’s Advanced Placement program. He has brilliantly responded to the challenge and boasts a weighted GPA of 5.17, in addition to a class ranking in the top percent of his class. Daniel not only has tutoring experience in all math subjects but also excels in the instruction of Spanish, Chemistry, and Physics. He is fluent in Spanish as demonstrated by the mastery of the subject, earning a 5 on the AP Exam as only a sophomore. Presently, Daniel spends his free time dedicating his energy to the community as President of the Spanish Honor Society, Executive Officer for the National Honor Society, and Project Leader for Volunteer Broward.

Daniella Rondon

Daniella is presently a senior at Cypress Bay High School. Currently excelling in all of her classes despite her arduous schedule of all AP courses, she maintains a 5.1 grade point average and is among the top one percent of her class. Having taken AP Calculus AB/BC and received 5’s on both exams, Daniella is well versed in mathematics, and as a current AP Chemistry student, she is proficient in the subject as well. Also a avid student of the liberal arts, Daniella has taken all of the AP English and AP History Courses the school has to offer and is comfortable tutoring students in either field of study.  Ultimately, she is an extremely well rounded individual who began tutoring as a middle school student and has continued to do so ever since. Well loved by her peers, Daniella is a member of the National Honors Society, soon to be member of Social Studies Honor Society, and an active member of her community.

Brandon Clemmer

Brandon is currently a junior at St. Thomas Aquinas High School. Although he remains extremely active in athletics, he maintains a cumulative GPA of 5.0 while excelling in 5 rigorous AP courses. As a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, and Mu Alpha Theta, Brandon is acknowledged as a person of character with a wide range of academic expertise. He has achieved great success in all five years of Spanish and considers himself to be fully competent in the language through the AP level. Currently in AP Calculus BC, he has always loved mathematics and enjoys helping others to understand the subject. Although he is a very successful student, Brandon prides himself most on being a well-rounded individual.

Elizabeth Rodriguez

Dedicated to academic excellence, Elizabeth is ranked in the top two percent of Cypress Bay High’s senior class with a weighted GPA of 5.08. Having completed and excelled in both AP Spanish Language and AP Calculus AB/BC, she is able to tutor in math up through AP Calculus and in any level of Spanish. Also a former student of AP English Language and current student of AP English Literature, Elizabeth can also assist in English as well as writing. As President of English Honor Society, and editor of the CBHS literary magazine and Student Editor of the Sun-Sentinel’s TeenLink, Elizabeth has demonstrated her passion and dedication for everything she is involved in. Aside from schoolwork and extracurricular activities, she enjoys socializing with her friends and writing creatively.

Holly Beilin

                Holly Beilin is currently a senior at Cypress Bay High School. She has taken a rigorous schedule of all college-level Advanced Placement and honors courses throughout her high school career, including AP Psych, English Composition, and American History, and is currently enrolled in AP English Literature, American Government, Macro/Micro Economics, and Human Geography. She has also scored fives, the highest possible score, in all of her AP exams so far. Having succeeded in honors and college-level math classes since middle school, she is proficient in math up to Calculus. Also, as the current Managing Editor of Cypress Bay’s award-winning newspaper and recipient of several all-state writing awards, she is extremely knowledgeable about writing, grammar, and English, and familiar with all Social Studies classes. Holly enjoys being very involved in her school and community, and is an active member of National Honor Society and English Honor Society.


Natalia Duarte

Natalia is a senior at Cypress Bay High School. Currently excelling in her challenging classes, she maintains a GPA above that of a 5.0 and is in the top one percent of her class. Not only is she fluent in Spanish and English, but she is also proficient in French, having earned a 5 on the AP French Examination. She is knowledgeable in a variety of subjects, including mathematics up through the AP Calculus level. An active participant in the community, Natalia is also president of the National Honor Society and member of other honor societies at school. She has a passion for helping others and enjoys volleyball and photography in her leisure time.

Alexandra Cohen

Alexandra is presently a senior at Cypress Bay High School. She is currently enrolled in AP Government/Economics, AP English Literature, and two honors courses. While actively carrying out her duties as Senior Class Vice President, she manages to focus on her schoolwork and extracurricular activities. Alexandra is not only an officer of senior class, but also an officer of Spanish Honor Society and a member of National Honor Society, English Honor Society, and Psychology Club. Alexandra received a 5 (the highest score) on the Advancement Placement Psychology exam, and obtained a 4 on the AP Spanish, AP Calculus AB, and AP English Language & Composition exams. Even though she took these classes during her sophomore and junior year, she still retains her notes and information needed to teach others in these fields. Throughout Alexandra’s high school career, she has always showed an interest for science. She has all the materials one would need to better understand chemistry and physics. Being a Mu Alpha Theta member as a freshman after completing the GEM program in middle school, Alexandra has experience in tutoring her peers.
